This piece shows how America is still segregated. It depicts the separation of racial groups in both New York and Detroit. This is relevant to the topic of “relationships” because it shows how people are still connected by their country (America) but are also still divided. The separation of people based on race has existed since the colonial era and still exists today. I decided to design this piece to communicate the message that America has ways to go in achieving true racial diversity.
