It Runs in the Family

Parents aim to develop a love of learning in their children. Thus, this short poem is inspired by my parent’s unending commitment in fostering a passion for learning in me. This piece aims to move readers to embrace the great, and not so great aspects of formal education.

My father is a scholar and by extension, I have to be one

You see, if education was a choice, I would not choose

The late nights, the early mornings, and the in-between

But, I was blessed with a scholar for a father,

and inarguably I am becoming one

Now see, if education was a choice, I just might choose

the memories, the experience, and the in-between
